We are proud to announce that Osceola Community Health Services (OCHS) has been selected as a 2026 grantee of the Florida Blue Foundation's Maternal Health Initiative. This investment is part of a $3.5 million commitment by the Florida Blue Foundation to address Florida's maternal health crisis, supporting 13 organizations across the state working to improve outcomes for mothers, babies, and families.
What This Means for Our Community
Through this grant, OCHS will embed mental health screening, counseling, and peer support directly into routine OB/GYN care at our OCHS clinic locations. By integrating these services into the care our patients already receive, we're making it easier for expecting and new mothers to get the mental health support they need, right when they need it most.
Our Maternal Mental Health Integration Program focuses on:
- Perinatal mental health screening, identifying concerns early during pregnancy
- Postpartum counseling to provide support after delivery, when mothers are especially vulnerable
- Peer support that connects patients with others who understand their experience firsthand
Why This Matters
Maternal mental health conditions, including perinatal depression and postpartum anxiety, are among the most common complications of pregnancy, yet they remain widely underdiagnosed and undertreated. In Osceola County, where many families face barriers to accessing behavioral health services, this gap can have lasting consequences for both mothers and their children.
By bringing mental health care into the same setting where mothers receive their prenatal and postnatal care, we want to make sure no mother is left without support during one of the most important times in her life.
